Chris Turner is one of the first comedians to ever perform a Las Vegas residency with Cirque Du Soleil; defeated ChatGPT in TED’s inaugural Man vs. Machine rap battle; and his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earned him a rapturous standing ovation. Based in New York, he’s a regular headline act at the world famous Comedy Cellar, with over 100 million views online thanks to his unmatched improvisational talent. Chris combines freestyle rap, musical comedy, stand-up, and improv in his unique live shows that have to be seen to be believed.
His quotable gags and rapid freestyle raps have established him as one of the most in-demand acts on the corporate circuit, and at comedy clubs around the world. He’s headlined for 1 million Dutch comedy fans on RTL4's flagship stand up show, The Comedy Factory; appeared live on BBC Radio, and performed sold-out five-star runs at festivals worldwide.
In 2014, his debut show Pretty Fly won the Amused Moose People's Choice award for best show at the Edinburgh Fringe. His fiercely personal 2015 show XXV was called ‘The best show I’ve reviewed in seven years’ by The List’s Murray Robertson. In 2016, Observational Tragedy won Best Comedy at the Adelaide Fringe Weekly Awards, and for the third year running, many of his jokes appeared in multiple 'Best Jokes of the Fringe’ lists. 2017's What a Time to be Alive was nominated for Best Comedy at Perth Fringeworld 2017, and received 4½ stars for its ‘massive punchlines’ in the Australia Times whilst the West Australian dubbed him ‘the thinking man’s comedian’. In 2018, he performed We're Where We Were at Orlando Fringe, winning a Patron’s Pick Award for the show, and during its Edinburgh Fringe run, the show received a five star review from Edinburgh Festivals Magazine, who branded his raps “mind-bindingly flawless” and the show “the Fringe Holy Grail”. In 2020, his innovative comedy hip-hop show Rap God received 5 star reviews during a sell-out run in Australia, won a ‘Best Comedy’ award at Fringeworld festival, before going on to receive critical acclaim at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe. 2023 saw his show Vegas, Baby! completely sell out its 25 date run at the Edinburgh Fringe, picking up multiple five star reviews and becoming one of British Comedy Guide’s Best Reviewed Shows at the festival. In 2024, his musical comedy extravaganza Childish toured to Adelaide, Orlando, Edinburgh, and Reykjavik Fringes, receiving glowing reviews, award nominations, and selling out three nights at New York’s legendary Joe’s Pub. For 2025, his latest show Spontaneous sees Chris and the audience join forces to create a brand-new hour of comedy at each performance.
Chris is a sought-after entertainer on the corporate circuit, hosting awards and performing for many of the world’s largest organisations, as well as being a firm favourite of many of the UK’s biggest sports teams. He has worked with Yorkshire Tea to create Blessed are the Teamakers, a tea-centric rap with 6m+ views, and with Coca-Cola to produce comedic content for their mobile media platform.
He speaks at conferences on the applications of improvised rap in business; his performance at tech conference Wired 2016 led to invitations to events across the globe, and in May 2017, appeared at renowned human rights conference the Oslo Freedom Forum. Chris has interviewed Jerry Springer, introduced Garry Kasparov, and rapped for Imogen Heap, and Yasiin Bey. In 2019, he entertained an audience of 2000 during Forbes’ most recent 30 under 30 conference in Detroit, appearing between headline speakers Kevin Durant and rapper Quavo. Throughout 2020, 2021, and 2022, he performed over 350+ virtual shows for companies including Nike, Facebook, Microsoft, Google, BCG, Bain & Co., McKinsey, IBM, Samsung, and many more.
He is a founding member of Racing Minds, one of the UK's most respected improv troupes, with 7 sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe performing Aaaand Now For Something Completely Improvised, a twelve-part series recorded for Audible, and 600,000+ Soundcloud subscribers to their 50s style radio comedy The Wireless Podcast.
